The Municipality of Bayombong proudly serves as the provincial capital of Nueva Vizcaya, nestled within the Cagayan Valley (Region II) on the main island of Luzon.

The town was originally established at the vibrant confluence of the Colocol and Magat Rivers. This defining geographical feature inspired its name – derived from the ancient Gaddang word “Bayongyong,” which translates to a “confluence of rivers” or refers to traditional bamboo water carrier.
Bayombong spans a total land area of 16, 161.59 hectares. This is certified under Political Boundary Survey Pb-02-000123, a historic collaborative effort conducted from March to August 2012 by the:

Through rigorous technical evaluation and diplomatic dialogue with neighboring local governments, all boundary disputes were successfully resolved. Because of this milestone, Bayombong stands distinct as the only municipality in the Province of Nueva Vizcaya with absolutely no political boundary conflicts.
Administratively, Bayombong is divided into 25 barangays, each further organized into localized puroks and sitios. The urban barangays form the bustling municipal center, while the outer communities showcase a scenic mix of plains and rolling hills.
